Emborough Aran is a sturdy yet soft aran weight natural cream Ryeland Wool/Alpaca blend from just up the road.
Emborough Farm is about 8 miles from our Chesterblade Hills shop, and the yarn is spun in the South West. Their Ryeland sheep and alpacas live happily with various other livestock animals, Val, Philip and their lovely dogs. Ryeland sheep are a native breed which at one point counted as rare but now, happily, numbers have increased. They are known for their soft wool which was favoured by Elizabeth I for her stockings!
Each skein is approximately 100g in weight with approximately 160m per skein and seems to work best at an aran-weight tension.
